So my resolution this year was to do more, and while that's pretty vague I explained myself fairly well in this post. Lots of people set monthly goals, so I thought I'd see what things I've done more of this January. Before I break it all down I'm going to say that I already know it's not a great deal. January is a rubbish month in my opinion, and I never have any motivation to do anything until February rolls around. But anyway, here we go. Do More: January Edition...
Document: Although I haven't been great on the photography front, I have been doing some writing for myself. I did say this year that I wanted to get back into making videos, and while vlogs wasn't originally part of my plan, you can check out why I'm back on Youtube here. I'll have a new video up every other Thursday!
Travel: The furthest I've travelled is from my home to university, and while that in itself is a hour and a half adventure, I haven't been anywhere exciting.
Learn: For obvious reasons I've been getting to grips with Final Cut Pro and working my way around Photoshop some more. My second semester of university only started on the 27th of January, so I can't really say that I've learned ALL that much hah.
Sleep: Well, I think I've just come to accept that me and sleep will never be friends. By that I mean I either sleep for 5 hours or I sleep for 11. The days I sleep for 5 I feel much better than the days I sleep for 11 too, so that's strange. I was going to bed at 6am for like a week straight in January, so I did an all nighter which usually fixes my sleeping pattern. It did for like two days, and then I went straight back to sleeping at 4am etc. I can't seem to find a particularly good balance just yet, but I'm starting to read or do things that help switch my brain off to make it easier to sleep at night - so I guess that's a start?
Read: I'm kind of a mess with reading right now. I'm in the middle of reading Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson and it's turning out to be one of those books that takes me a long time to digest, but I really like it so far. I'm also re-reading Mockingjay and had planned on reading The Interestings as part of A Beautiful Mess Book Club. Maybe I'll get to finish them all before February ha!
Productivity: I certainly haven't been very productive this month and I'm not even giving myself a hard time about it. We all need to step back and have time to relax.
Exercise: Definitely not. I am going to go back to counting my sugar though. I have about four baby teeth and need to have less than the average human's sugar intake to make sure the four teeth don't fall out. For a while I counted it really intensely, but then I fell back on the sugar train. I think it's about time I got back off again now that Christmas and my holiday season is well and truly over.
*I've missed out listening and letting go from the original list because I feel like these are things I need to work on continuously throughout the year, as opposed to things I can simply tackle monthly.
In all honesty I didn't really get up to all that much in January, but February will be better. I can just feel it. I hope you had a great month!
That doesn't sound too bad at all, you wouldn't want to do everything in January anyway, otherwise what would be left for the rest of the year?!
