After arriving in town and being pleasantly surprised that there was no queue at 4pm, Caitlin and I headed into Mile Castle, which is a pub, to get a drink and catch up. It wasn't long until we ended up ordering food, and soon after we were joined by Penner and Min. We left the pub at 7pm, just as the doors to the venue were opening.
We waltzed straight in and took a prime position at the barrier on the left hand side. I'm useless at gigs unless I'm on the barrier, and I definitely wasn't expecting to get such a good spot at last nights show. I could ramble on for hours about the songs they played, what they mean to me and their general personas and performance, but instead I'll say this. Seeing Jimmy Eat World live isn't something I thought I'd get to do, and I can't describe how thankful I am that it happened. They certainly didn't disappoint, and were definitely worth waiting five years for. There's just a certain feeling of fulfilment seeing the people who have written the songs that you find yourself quoting, sing them at you live on stage. It was just incredible. You can see a video that I took from the show here.
Have you ever seen one of your favourite bands live?
what a fun show! and lucky you getting a pick!
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to see bans you like live :)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! How cool that you had the opportunity to see a favorite.
ReplyDeleteI got to see Robyn last year at Summerfest, which is a music festival in my hometown. I waited all day with a few friends and we were dead center in the front row. I love her and I was totally stoked I got to see her so far away from her home base.
Ah that's amazing, I love it when you get to the front for someone you really love!
DeleteI love that you titled this In The audience. That's so clever. I've seen most of my favourite bands. Much like you, I'm completely hooked on live music and have no seen over 150 different bands. My favourite band is Kasabian and I've seen them live 4 times haha.
