Weekly Favourites #2

It's time for another round of my weekly favourites. It seems like it has been forever since my last one, or is that just me? Regardless, I really like doing this feature twice a month because it gives me more to talk about so let's get cracking!

Category: Music

Song: "Campfire" by a band called Satellite Stories. This little gem was in my inbox at the beginning of last week and I have not been able to stop playing it. They're a band from Finland and this song is from their forthcoming album 'Pine Trails' which is due for release on November 1st. It's just a very feel good song with a Two Door Cinema Club vibe.

Music Video: Ah I've been so excited to share this video with you all, I am absolutely loving NGHRBS - "Hold Up Girl". They have created a DIY music video based within the app Instagram by using their new video function. It's so cool and I can only imagine how long it took to put together! You can watch it here.

Category: Food

Thing I've Eaten: My parents, their friends and I went out for a meal at this place called The Badger on Friday. It was really characteristic and cute, and I liked it a lot. We had to wait forever for our food, and I ordered off the sandwich and soup menu. The soup of the day was parsnip and apple, which I thought sounded interesting so I gave it a shot. It is the best soup I have ever tasted, and the chicken, stuffing and cranberry toasted sandwich I had was amazing as well. I'm still stuffed.

Thing I've Made: I thought I would try making a variation of cornflakes covered in chocolate and it was disastrous. I ignored all of the measurements and instead of melting my ingredients in a pan on low heat, I microwaved them and ended up with far too much excess liquid. That being said, they are some of the nicest cornflake cakes I've had, and I think that was down to using crunchy nut cornflakes instead of normal ones and adding golden syrup!

The Daily Tay

Blogger: My favourite blogger this week is Taylor, who blogs over at thedailytay.com What I like most about Taylor's blog is that she really portrays herself well in her posts, no matter what they're about. She's what I'd actually call a "lifestyle" blogger, and I've found it really hard to find any good "lifestyle" blogs, but her's is one of the best. She posts about her actual life, and it's not the generic crap you sometimes read. When she has a bad day, she blogs about it, but in a humorous way so it's not all negative. In fact, her humorous writing style was one of the reasons I started reading her blog in the first place. My favourite posts she has written this week are The Impound Lot and What Is Important To Our Society, According To The Instagram Popular Page.

Category: TV

Programme: Orphan Black. So I tend to think that when I become friends with people, it's because we have similar interests in a lot of things, or maybe just a few things that we're equally obsessive over. I value their opinions a lot on things like TV shows, if they recommended a show to me I'm about 50% more likely to watch it. I seen a few friends raving about Orphan Black on Twitter before it came out in the UK (it only just premiered in the UK last night) and holy shit it is incredible and I've only seen the first two episodes. I'm already hooked, but I think that's because I'm fascinated with stuff to do with clones. I'm excited to see where the story line goes.

And that's the end of another one of my weekly favourite lists. I'm really enjoying these, they're fun. Have you found anything this week that you've liked, or do you like any of the same things I do?

  1. The Parsnip and apple soup sounds really delicious! I wonder if I can find a recipe online. I've never heard of Orphan Black, but I just read a little bit about it due to your post and it sounds really interesting! I'm going to have to check it out. I love tv shows that are different, I just finished watching Under the Dome and really enjoyed it.
