2014: A Year of Doing More

Like many other people, at the end of every year I write down goals I want to achieve for the following year. As humans we appreciate fresh starts, and the chance to change, rid ourselves of past mistakes and face the year with the intent of improving. While I don't personally agree with this "new year, new me" bullshit that is commercially churned out, purely for the fact that if you want to change - you can do it any day, I do like setting goals and organising myself for the year ahead. This year I want to:

Do more.

As you will have noticed, this is one unspecific goal that doesn't clarify much at all. My reason for that is simple. 2014 is about doing more. I don't want to set myself strict goals this year, I don't want to be wrapped up statistics or forcing myself to do things because I don't want to fail. All I want to do, is do more.

Document: I am going to learn to document the things that matter to me through photos and videos, and even words.
Travel: I want to experience the world, so I am going to see the sights, not necessarily always in trips but in every day life too.
Listen: I am going to become a better listener, someone who can listen to themselves as well as others.
Learn: I hope my thirst for learning continues for as long as I live. While that might not be in the traditional sense of education, I want to keep growing as a person and I feel like I have a lot to learn in 2014.
Sleep: Sleeping is important and I need to stop over and under sleeping, I need to find a balance that works for me and value it's importance.
Read: Reading offers me so much, and I am going to remind myself what a great feeling it is to finish a book, this will encourage me to make time for another.
Letting go: Learning to let go is not as simple as telling yourself to forget the past, and I don't want to forget it. I want to stop using it as a weapon against myself, and release it from my grip. We don't have control of our emotions, but we don't have to let them control us, either.
Productivity: Productivity is something I see in myself but only in sparks, my reliance on social media and impressive ability to procrastinate is stopping me from making the most of my time. I'm going to make more of an effort to prioritise my time.
Exercise: Exercising and keeping fit is important too. I'm not saying I'm going to join my gym again, I'm just reminding myself to make health choices which will benefit me in the future as well as now.

Lastly I am going to LIVE. We waste so much of our time waiting for things to happen and thinking that life owes us something. It doesn't. So I am going to stop waiting and start doing. 2014 is about doing more, life is about doing more, so that's exactly what I'm going to do.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
