A Spot of Tea

So I'd be lying if I said my life has been crazy busy lately, because it's been the complete opposite. I've always really disliked January for some reason, and I find that my go-get-it attitude that most people have in January after New Years, only springs into action in February. Usually this makes me super mad because I don't have the motivation to go and do anything, but this year I've embraced it and given myself some actual "me" time that has lasted for longer than a couple of days. It's been really great to have a chance to reflect on things and just have some time off. Since I haven't blogged in a while, I thought I'd share with you one of my favourite places to catch up with friends, get some inspiration and also some tasty tea while I'm at it.

The Quilliam Brothers Tea House is a pretty new place that opened up in Newcastle last June. It's run by three brothers and is absolutely perfect. All of the staff are really lovely and they've thought of unique little ways to make the usual stuff more exciting. They offer over 60 different types of tea and my current favourite is Orange Blossom. All of their tea's (besides ice tea), are served in teapots and come with either milk or honey, or sometimes both. They usually also have some sugary treats on offer too, like caramel brownies or different cakes and scones.

In terms of atmosphere, it's a great little place. It's open from 8am on weekdays, 9am on Saturday's and doesn't close until 1am, which is ideal because it means I can pretty much pop in whenever I want too. They sometimes have live music on upstairs or poetry readings, and downstairs they have placed loads of comfy pillows incase you want to sit on the floor. There's also a gallery / cinema space where they show some popular and independent films. It's an all round interesting place and is pretty much great for whatever you want to do, hang out, work, catch some music, you know the works. It's also a much better and cheaper and option that your regular coffee/tea chains and I just wanted to share it with you all.

Do you have a favourite little place like this that you visit?

  1. wow it is so rare to find a teahouse that stays open that late - well it is here anyway! it looks like a really nice little place!
I seem to be motivated at the start of the year but mainly because it is summer here, I think I would struggle if it was cold, I generally hibernate during winter :P

  2. These place sound amazing, I like that they stay open to one and having music nights.
In Nottingham I really like a pub called Malt Cross, its incredible inside and used to be a Victorian music hall.
I don't blame you for not feeling motivated, I try and motivate myself but its cold and wet and I just want to stay in bed, drinking tea.
