Flying High

As you read this there is every chance that I'm either flying to Paris, or have landed in Paris. Either way, I'm most likely in Paris right now and that's incredibly exciting. Despite the fact that I've mentioned Paris three times already, that isn't what this post is actually about.

In March of this year when I flew to Germany, it was a really short flight because we had travelled down to Leeds first. I got the window seat on our plane and this hadn't happened for about five years or so. When you fly alone, you tend to get the aisle seat and any glimpses of beyond the window tend to be blocked by people's heads. Yet flying to Germany was different because I was with my Mam, so we got the middle and window seat.

Looking out at the world from an airplane is one of my favourite views, and I realised this almost immediately once we had taken off. This wasn't my first time flying, so I don't know why it took me so long to realise that this is a favourite site of mine. Maybe I'd forgotten just how pretty everything is from the sky. Is that even possible? I don't know. Anyway, I get just as excited about flying as I do about my destination, and I recently watched this video on how astronauts see Earth. It really resonated with me and made me instantly think about the view from an airplane window.

I really do think it is one of the most amazing sites, and I hope when I fly home from Paris I get to see all the lights from above too.
